How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home
10 October 2026 · 3 min read
Ordering a ring online comes down to one number: your size. The good news is that you can find it at home in five minutes with a thin strip of paper, a piece of string, and a ruler marked in millimetres.
Cut a strip of paper about 5 mm wide — or use a non-stretchy piece of string. Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you'll wear the ring on, and mark the exact point where the paper overlaps. Lay it flat and measure the distance from the start of the strip to your mark in millimetres: that is your finger's circumference. Match it to a size chart to get your ring size (for example, 54.4 mm is US size 7).
Time of day matters. Fingers are smallest in the cold early morning and largest at the end of the day — so measure in the evening, when they are slightly bigger, for a size you can wear comfortably around the clock.
The most common mistake is ignoring the knuckle. If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, the ring has to slide over it — measure both places and choose the size between the two. A ring that slides over the knuckle with slight resistance will fit securely without spinning.
When in doubt, size up slightly for wide bands, which feel tighter than narrow ones. And if the ring still isn't perfect, message us with your order number — most of our silver rings can be resized, and we will guide you through the options. Our full conversion chart is on the FAQ & Size Guide page.
